Here is hoping things will be better this season. I have spots reserved for a few trips, and looks like so do others, as usual, almost no days in any spots still open! Still contemplating on when and where for backcountry trips so really have not researched entrance permits.

I texted with Chuck a couple of days ago, there's a new guy coming in to manage the Canyon, has worked in San Diego, never been to Rock Creek. Let's hope that Mike, Teri and Dennis can teach him the right ways, and that he listens. Maggie made it into the house....

Talked with them at the end of season last year. They also hope he does not come in swinging, as they have created a great system at EF and have gained great respect from true campers for all the hoops they jump thru to make your stay enjoyable. Over the years there have been some hosts that seemed more camp wardens then hosts.
Chuck was great and did so much for the canyon no doubt. He will be missed for sure. Fingers crossed for the new manager.

New host at McGee after a decade as well =/ Sad days. Getting older is rough.

Yes, toward the end of last season a new potential camp host arrived at McGee. Story goes they had poor cell reception, TV signal and some other issues. Turned their key over the next day and left. They were from out of state so were probably used to Glamping.

Get out of here!!! Man do I love that canyon, keeps the softies out.
I didn't get to make it back up at the end of the season due to some hunting trips, so I never got to meet them. I'm partial to the camp host we've had there for the last decade. Cheryl and her dog McGee are 1 of a kind.
Wonder who the the hosts will be. ...
Thanks for the Intel.
