At Toms so have signal. Weather has been the sierras, first few days below freezing. Now very hot and looking thundershowers. Two Bears very active daily through camp so when you come up be very attentive to your food goods. Fishing in creek horrible and water is October low now. Got a few nice Desert Springs Scout stocked fish, but far and few. More later on the return to the flatlands.

When I got off work yesterday it was 112 degrees. I'd trade that for Rock Creek camping anytime.

Just back, hate it already! The weather was hot above normal Gary so you didn't have much relief, but in comparison to 112, yes better.
I will post more in detail tomorrow, but one important note, anyone going up the canyon be VERY Bear aware. A two year old is really doing some damage (if you are not careful) so be diligent when camping in the canyon.

When it comes to bears I've always thought rangers patrolling with paintball guns loaded with pepper spray balls would make a difference.

There was a warden cruising thru and stopped when he saw the Bear. He chased after it but did not get a shot off as it was near children. They hit them with non lethal bean bags via shotgun. It try's to install human presence with pain and hopes that the bear will avoid humans. From watching this bears actions, do not think it will have affect, sadley.

Erik and I were up the 24th thru the 28th weather was nice ,we only saw one bear on our last day it took the food off the picnic table while people were sitting there needless to say they were freaked out. I did see some people pull some big fish out of the creek but I have no idea where they found them. The mosquito's were horrible I think the new resident beaver has something to do with that ,the middle part of the creek in a pond due to the dam and low flowing water .I could be wrong but they seemed especially bad near this area. We as always had a great time and can't wait to go back. Hope everyone is doing well

Glad you had a good time Corey. Agree the slow water at the beavers area is loaded with mosquitos. Almost got carried away by them when fishing through there.

Saw, what must have been, that same bear on the 30th do that in the middle of the afternoon. Hopping right up on the picnic table on my neighbors site like he'd been there before. I was looking for Yogi, since this one was the size of Boo Boo, but he was a one bear show. Still, pretty bold behavior and will have to be relocated I reckon. East Fork was immaculate as usual, what a great camp host crew we have, they're making it look easy, it's not.
Where are all the Steller's Jays?

Steller's usually show a bit later in the year, might have been too early when you were there. Sad part is they do not relocate bears. They say it takes a bear that has adapted its behavior for free food and they loose the forage habit. Also was told that it just moves a bear with bad habits to another place. They can cover a lot of miles in a short time and just take up the routine somewhere else. Very sad so that's why its important to keep stuff secured so they do not develope thebad habits. Way to late for this little one.

Still the same restrictions posted as of May 24th, fires in rings in campgrounds still ok so far. We shall see if they amend that soon.
