I fished Opener once since I've lived here, wasn't really worth it...everybody else can have it.

I don't think so. I haven't been up for the opener for several seasons now. I used to loved spending the weekend camped right on the edge of Crowley Lake. We would drive up a day early and stay until Mon/Tues without leaving the campsite.

I drove up to the lake this morning, nobody in their right mind should go out on the ice. Open water almost all the way around the lake, and it has that turquoise look to it. I couldn't confirm any stocking, but I couldn't check everything. Not much snow anywhere, I talked with a retired forest service guy I know, he drove to Mosquito, only had to go thru snow a few places...too early. Lots of people showing up, I'm starting to shake...

Scout, after viewing the Crowley Cam, it looks as if you have a few visitors! Holy Mackerel.

Yes, the tourons are back...I'm use to it by now, but I still wish they'd learn to drive...and camp, and pick up their trash, and...don't get me started. Yes, there are campers in French, I don't know how they're handling things. After the rocket scientists that they have working for them couldn't figure out how to turn the water on, they cancelled all the reservations for this weekend. Amazing. Then the forest service came up and made it work, so they made it first come, first served. If these fools can't figure these things out, maybe it's time for a new concessionaire? Thinking about driving back up to the lake to see if anyone's fallen in yet.

Pretty low key opener, from what I saw. I went back up to the lake (hey, somebody's gotta do it), maybe half a dozen cars at the gate to the inlet, two cars in the boat dock lot. Nobody on the ice (darn), a few people at the outlet, a couple around the boat dock cove...a lot of open water there, but I didn't see anybody catch anything. Walked up past the group camp to the upper cove, nobody fishing up there. A few at the inlet. It's usually more crowded. Drove through French, it's like a ghost town. Nobody on the uphill stretch, maybe a dozen on the creek side...where'd everybody go? Went into Tom' s Place, pretty slow, but they were all still out fishing. Biggest fish weighed in by noon...2 3/4 lb. Went through Tuff, more campers, but not full. Firewood cutting starts tomorrow (yay)...I broke my collarbone a couple months ago, fell on some ice, healed well, but may not be strong enough to handle a chainsaw yet...we'll see. Hope to be done in time to see the fish derby results at Tom' s....stay tuned.

Had to miss the opener for grandsons wedding today...No trips in 2019 due to wife having major surgery, missed 2020 and 2021 due to all the Covid stuff...Sure hope to get 6-8 trips this year..Are reservations still required to get a campsite..

The talk of "all reservations" has not happened yet. Still first come sites in French and East Fork. Seems the rest are all still first come first grab. Hoping to see you Roy!
Thanks for the update Scout. Hoping the influx of the flatlander non campers has worn off and they are all headed back to Disneyland.

Roy, good to see you around again. Sorry for all the personal mess that you had to miss a whole bunch of trips. Hope to see you in French along the creek sometime this year;Or for that fact any of y'all! Stock up on your construction wood; hope to have agreeable fire restrictions this year. Got a new trailer and plan to use it this summer.
