Got word that Tuff is flooded out and closed until expected June 15th. Scout said the creek swelled and jumped the bank flooding out the lower campsites. Yes this is an interesting season!

It's only the beginning. DW P cut the flow this morning, kinda pissed me off, but the creek looks better than it did. Hopefully they'll open it up again.

I ran into a DW P guy this morning, asked him about Rock Creek flows. He says they're going to open it up again to flush it out some more. Excellent...

Like others, sad as I was to head up the canyon Saturday for 14 days. Would be tough to fish with 4 lb. test and 5-pound weight to keep the bait from being swept away.

That looks like the drive into Aspen. Had a great Memorial Day weekend trip at French Camp. Had never considered camping there, but now I'm a convert. The place was great and the hosts were very nice and helpful. The amount of water coming down the hills everywhere was impressive. They could shoot a remake of Princess and the Frog in Iris Meadow, it's pretty swampy. I was on the lookout for Scout, but all the old time prospectors I asked said they names were "Lucky".
I agree it's going to be an interesting Summer, bring the Deet!

If that is Aspen then the trees between the road and entrance road sure took a beating.

You met Chuck and his wife Wanda, great hosts, great people. The entrance to Aspen took a hit, by nothing got into the campground.

Yes aspen, talked to a guy who obtained a permit to recover some of the downed trees. Got snow flurries for a few this afternoon while fishing the inlet, a huge difference in how much melted on the lake today compared to yesterday. I give it only a few more days before it’s ice free.

I walked into East Fork this morning, up the campground side of the creek from the bottom to #110 or so. Mostly clear of snow, the sites in the shade have drifts a couple feet deep. Tree branches everywhere, big and small, I didn't see any whole trees down. The beaver dams are holding up...Corey was right, lots of water in the willows at the bottom, could be buggy later. Lots of groundwater, little springs popping up everywhere...bring your rubber boots along with the big boy pants. Creek is high and fast, still a lot of runoff to come, now guessing late June for the peak. Rock Creek Lake has that "look" to it, should thaw out soon. Access roads are still buried in snow to the inlet and boat docks. I hear Iris and Big Meadows are partially flooded , I haven't been in there yet. That's it for now, questions are welcomed.

Thanks for the update Jeff. Any word on whether they will extend the closure of East Fork past 6/29? I still have 6/30-7/3 reserved.

I really don't know, it'll take a lot of work to clean it up, it depends on who does it. I'll keep in touch with Chuck, and I'll let you know what he says. Don't cancel anything...if they cancel your reservation, it won't cost you anything.
