Chuck and the other host in French did more clean up in a couple days than the other "workers" did in a month. It all depends on who does the work, and Chuck isn't leaving French.

The gates into East Fork were open this morning. I didn't go in, not sure if it's open, or they forgot to close the gate.

Chuck says it's open...and it's been so nice, and quiet...it was fun while it lasted.

Camped at East Fork 6/30-7/3. We were originally scheduled to be there 6/23-7/3 but due to the heavy winter we had 6/23-6/29 cancelled due to the late opening. Camp was quite full while we were there. Dennis & Terri are hosts again this year. Water levels of the creek were already high when we arrived and our first day coincided with the start of a heat wave so the water levels continued to rise. Many areas next to the creek are very marshy, water is running in areas that are normally dry, and of course the creek is running very fast. There were still some fishable areas. I caught a few fish using a Purple Haze fly, including a large rainbow planted by Desert Springs Hatchery from Oregon that is contracted to plant in the Eastern Sierras. Bugs seemed to increase daily, but was not as bad as I expected. Sad to say one of the restrooms across from site 111 has been tagged with graffiti inside on the walls. As of the day we left Iris Meadows still hadn't opened. Parked outside and walked through Iris on 7/1. It's the first time in a long time where I can say it lived up to It's name. Beautiful Iris's everywhere!! But the Iris field was very wet and muddy and there was a small foot wide stream running across the field not too far from the camp entrance. As of the day we left, the gate to enter Mosquito Flats above Rock Creek Lake was locked. Spent a couple of days in Bishop so we could attend the 4th of July fireworks show which did not disappoint. Second year we have attended the celebration at the park in Bishop. Scout, good seeing you again!

Thanks for the update Ray. It sure is an interesting summer season for sure. So sad about the restroom, hoping the same people doing that try to pet a bear.

Just got back from French Camp Never saw a mosquito but when we got home Erik had bites all over the place and I don't have any... so strange. We did see a few people catch fish out of the creek we didn't fish this trip it's to hard with our needy dog and it was too hot to leave her in the trailer. It was really hot but really beautiful
